090: When a medical diagnosis changes your path with Renea Jones-Hudson

[ad_1]

Hi friends! I hope you’re having a lovely week so far! I’m excited to share a new podcast episode up with you with Renea Jones-Hudson. I LOVED talking with her and getting to learn more about her — I hope you’ll take a listen to this one!

Here’s what we talk about:

– How she became involved with fitness and opened her own gym

– Her experience with Ulcerative Colitis and how it lead to her plant-based lifestyle

– Her go-to plant-based meals

– Her tip for staying Healthy in Real Life

and so much more.

A little bit more about Renea:

I was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica. Migrated here at the age of 14, four years later I joined the military, and retired as a Captain after 21.5 years. I am married to my husband of 24 years, he is also a retired Army veteran (22 years) and we have two amazing children.

When I decided to retire, it was an absolute spur of the moment decision. I had no plans. I did not have a next step but I was ready for a change. I spent my whole life in the military and I just wanted to do more with myself. With no plan, I decided to do what I was always good at: FITNESS. I opened IslandJam Fitness in October 2016 in my garage, moved to my own studio after 9 months, and now I am completely online. As a wife and mother, and after moving around so much in the military, time freedom and stability was and still is a priority. As an entrepreneur, I am able to have the flexibility I desire to be available for my family.

You can connect with Renea on Instagram or on her website.
